I have just finished my October budget for my Financial Peace University class at church.. Lets see how this ends up working out. I just really need to stick to my budget and not spend on impulse and learn to say: "NO!!!" If I stick strictly to this plan, I will be debt free (I currently have accrued $10,000 roughly in loans from the past 2 years) in January of 2010!!!! Here are some goals I have already met before I started my FPU journey:
1) Pay off credit card debt and NOT use it
2) Pay off my sister for her rent bailout a year ago
I have asked my parents to purchase the car I am currently driving. It is a very stylish 1994 Toyota Corolla! I love it, its reliable, it gets me around. I trust the owners, I trust my mechanic (Dad), and we have already been compatible for 4 years. Plus the insurance is a mere $100 a month, compared to a newer car insurance, plus crazy monthly payments!! So, I await the verdict. Even then, I will need to set up a payment plan with them, either add it to my debt, or wait to purchase when I'm debt free. I really am in their grace, and they charge no interest!
I get my first paycheck on Friday that I will dissect and use to begin this budget. I have been working the past week on it, but haven't started it fully, because it was mid paycheck. Now, I can decipher where the money will go from each paycheck...I am hating budgeting but loving it too!
Now if anyone has some cheap cheap (but healthy) grocery tips, I would love to hear! I would love to join the coupon/CVS club!! I just don't understand it...

This week was one of the more stressful weeks for me. I was yelled at by two jerk (my G rated version) doctors for some rather illegit reasons. The second doctor mentioned some sexual reference to himself, which was totally inappropriate for the setting and had nothing to do with what he was talking about. He is a jerk, a pig, male chauvinist. Needless to say, he was written up for his comments by 3 of us nurses who were present at the time.
Who gives these doctors the right to be jerks? They think they are God's gift to medicine and surgery. Not that I want to be a jerk back, but I'm praying for courage to stand up and dish it back to them, because there is no reason I need to be treated like that whether I'm a young lady or a young nurse. It made this week a bit of a hell for me, because it led to self doubt in myself and my choice of profession. Leading to questions of if I'm in the right area, right profession, doing what I'm supposed to be doing with my life. Is there something more or better that God is directing me to do. Don't know. Just when you think you'll be content with something (and I know better than that!!), you're not.
Good opening for The Office. I love this show!

Thank you, parents of my patient, for being in my face, telling me how to do my job, telling me what dr. order's to get, and where to put an IV. I understand you have a special kid, and you know her well, but please don't see me as in incompetent nurse when I know what I'm supposed to do to get her ready for surgery!!! After all, I went to school for 4 years for my bachelor's degree and license. You wouldn't think I would put my license at risk for you.
Yesterday was one of those days. I'm glad its over. It was crazy, it was horrible, it was so busy. To top it off, a trainwreck came through with pushy parents and an even pushier home nurse.
Today: nice and quiet. 40 cases, compared to our usual 70-90. I was able to spend time with patients, talk to them more, space out activities. Which was good on 4 hours of sleep! I'm young, I don't need too much sleep. I play catch up on the weekends and every afternoon after work!

A few things from the week:
BSF is amazing, looking forward to studying the life of Moses!!
Owen is a cute and fun little baby to play with!
A gun license will cost me about $500 up front for license and processing, not including purchasing a gun and attending a class. Something worth saving for!!
4 hours of sleep a night does not sustain one well through out the week. 3 hour naps after work are amazing!!!
I thought I slept an hour through work, but had really slept late into the evening one day! Not a good feeling.

Last night we were met with the reality that we are young women in a crazy, sinful world. 3 days ago, I was running and followed a little bit by 2 creepers in a white truck. I didn't feel unsafe, I just felt a little unsettled. I ran home really fast and I was ok. I told my roommates so they would be on alert if we saw them again.
Last night, I was awakened by my roommate, Pamela. She had seen a white truck circling our cul de sac, after looking out it drove away really fast. She came to ask me about it, so I got up. I thought they were freaking out just a little bit, as it could be anyone. They called the non emergency number, and they sent a deputy out. We waited for about 10 minutes before a loud bang on the door freaked us out. We called 911, updated our story, and the deputy was there within a minute.
The deputy drove around and hung out in the cul de sac for a few minutes. 2 of my roommates talked with him for a few minutes. Then we called one of our guy friends in the neighborhood to spend the night, so we would feel safer. We walked around the house with our bats and golf clubs, seeing that everything was ok. We stayed up until about 2:30am, and we slept in Pammy's big room. I slept with a golf club in my bed. I think I will do that tonight as well.
It was just a reminder of my own insecurity, my own infallibility. I was so scared last night, it was hard to remember that God is big and God is good. I hate the fact that I am scared and feel helpless when these things happen. I also will be looking into buying a gun this week. I have wanted one for a long time, and this pretty much seals the deal!!
We are safe, praise God. He is good, He is big, He is bigger than the evil in this world!!

I'm back. The trip has made me decide to move to St. Louis. I love the city, I love the area, I love the people who live there. I had the best time hanging out with my sister, seeing my grandparents, seeing my cousins. I know if I lived there it would not be like that, but at least it would be more of that. I think if I am still sangle in 1-2 years, I will move up there. The main thing that ties me here is my job. I love my friends, I love my roommates here, but I feel like I have been here awhile. Or maybe I'm just getting complacent.
The past 2 days have been sooooooo boring. I need a life. Although last night I went to the Red Fox Lounge with friends and had a fantastic time!! I was the oldest of our foursome, but the bartender picked me out as being the youngest. She "especially" needed to card me, as she told us!!
I ran yesterday morning and I ran tonight, about 3 miles each time. It was hard and challenging, but felt good when I was finished. I think I'm going to stick with running for awhile, as staying steady with a gym has not proven good the past 6 months. Its also getting cooler, which makes for nice outdoor runs. I am tired of not working out, and it is hard to get started. But, I am going to do it. My other goal is to get back to healthy eating, little by little. By the end of the month, I just want to feel better and perhaps look a little better too!!
